Join our volunteer litter collections as part of Keep Britain Tidy’s Great British September Clean

“I never knew litter-picking could be so much fun!’ More fun happening soon…

Working with idverde (the park maintenance contractors), the Friends initiated a programme of litter-picking sessions over several weeks, from late July through to September. An early start on Mondays at 8am did not seem to deter good numbers of willing volunteers. Although there are often highly visible and horrendous piles of post-picnic rubbish left by inconsiderate park users, closer inspection also reveals thousands of pieces of micro-plastics scattered far and wide across the park: bottle tops, children’s plastic drink straws and the polythene covers they come with, fragments of plastic bags, and so on.

As part of Keep Britain Tidy’s Great British September Clean (read more here) the Friends will be organising two further sessions:

Monday 14th September 8-9.30am and Saturday 19th September 3-4.30pm

Meet at the Francis Peek Centre (carpark side) 15mins before start time to collect gear and for briefing. Free coffee & tea will be served at the finish at the café, provided by our friends at The Dulwich Clock Cafe (Colicci). Please bring your own masks/face coverings and hand gel.
